WEC Poster 48: Aldo vs. Faber

The California State Athletic Commission has just released the salaries for this past Saturday’s “WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber” event.

Despite hosting their first pay-per-view broadcast, main event fighters Jose Aldo and Urijah Faber left Acro Arena with a COMBINED DISCLOSED payday of  only $68,000. The card’s entire roster only cost Zuffa, LLC, the parent company of the WEC and UFC, a total disclosed payroll of $336,500.

However, please keep in mind that MMA fighters do not have a union or a collective bargaining agreement in place. The promoter is only required to release the fighters’ salaries for public record, just as with every other major sport in America. However, any additional somthin’, somthin’ stuck in the athletes’ pockets does not have to be reported to the Commission, specifically pay-per-view bonuses.

Basically, don’t think for a second that Faber, the company’s biggest superstar and card’s featured attraction, limped away with only $28,000 for his troubles.

Here are the paydays for this past weekend’s extravaganza:
