Ortiz Predicts Machida Will Win… Kind Of

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz Tweeted his UFC 98 prediction regarding tonight’s 205-pound  title fight between Lyoto Machida and champ Rashad Evans. Ortiz should know, he was a common opponent of both Evans and Machida.

If you can consider this a prediction, here’s what Ortiz had Tweeted:

 Machida by “hit and run.”

Ortiz fought Evans to a Draw at UFC 73 in July of 2007, many believe that Evans did enough in the final two rounds to secure the W, but that’s what happens when a fight goes to the judeges’ scorecards.

Speaking of decisions, Machida handed Ortiz a Unanimous Decision loss at UFC 84 last July. After losing his final Octagon scrap, Ortiz suggested that Machida was auditioning for an NFL team as he backpedaled his way to the victory.

Sure sounds like sour grapes,or it’s just the 34-year-old free agent’s way of trying to stay relevant in a sport that is rapidly passing him by.

Still no timetable as to when Ortiz will compete next, word on the street was that he was set to sign with Strikeforce earlier this year, however nothing has materialized with the San Jose, California-based organization.
