The UFC officially announced yesterday “The Biggest Heavyweight Fight Ever” will go down at UFC 116 when champion Brock Lesnar will defend his title against interim champ Shane Carwin on July 3rd in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The scrap marks Lesnar’s first fight since almost losing his life to a severe case of diverticulitis last November.
After Lesnar announced his return on ESPN’s SportsCenter, Carwin was forced to fight Frank Mir at UFC 111 for the interim heavyweight title before getting a crack at the champ. The heavy handed Carwin easily disposed of Mir and fans will finally get what they have been waiting months to see.
There’s no doubt Carwin packs the power to hurt Lesnar, but the question is can Carwin avoid being taken down by the former WWE superstar.
This will be the biggest test in Lesnar’s young MMA career, as he’ll finally be standing across from someone who can practically match his size and strength.
