Already slated to take on lightweight king BJ Penn at UFC 101 on August 8th, UFC top contender Kenny Florian will also be testing his broadcasting skills as he will do the color-commentary for tonight’s highly anticipated WEC 41 show.
The Arco Arena in Sacramento, Cali will play host to the most anticipated rematch in WEC featherweight history as former champ Urijah Faber looks to regain his title from the man that jacked it from him, current 145-pound king Mike Brown.
Florian, who has done color for UFC pay-per-views in the past, Tweeted yesterday he had just touched town in Sacramento and was on his way to cover the WEC 41 weigh-ins.
The UFC’s lightweight top contender will be filling in for interim UFC heavyweight champ Frank Mir, who will be in the middle of the most intense training camp of his career. Mir and champ Brock Lesnar are both looking to unify the heavyweight crown at UFC 100 on July 11th.
Florian also has a title scrap that he needs to prepare for as he will be challenging for Penn’s 155-pound belt two months after his broadcasting job. It will be the first time since May 2008 that Penn has put his strap up for grabs.
You can catch all of the main bouts airing live on Versus Network.
