After months of back-and-forth negotiations between Fedor Emelianenko and Strikeforce, the sides were finally able to came to terms this past Tuesday. With Emelianenko now set to face Fabricio Werdum on June 26th, the organization wasted no time in cranking out the event’s first trailer.
Emelianenko owns a ridiculous 31-1 professional record and is prefect through his last 27 contests. In his Strikeforce debut this past November, the former Pride heavyweight champion posted a vicious 2ndRound knockout of then-undefeated Brett Rogers.
Werdum, who was released by the UFC last year after posting a mundane 2-2 Octagon record, boasts a respectable 13-4-1 overall mark and is perfect in his two scraps for Strikeforce. He was last seen taking a hard-fought unanimous decision over Antonio “Big Foot” Silva on the same “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers” show.
The Showtime broadcast takes places inside the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA.
