Evans to Machida: "Man, You Hit like a…"

At Monday’s “The Ultimate Fighter 10” media day, former UFC light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans spoke extensively about his loss to new 205-pound king Lyoto Machida at UFC 98. “Sugar” talked about how overwhelming it was for him to carry the UFC’s most coveted title.

Surprisingly, the overly-confident Evans sounded as though he had already lost his strap before he even set foot inside the Octagon. The TUF 10 coach stated that the expectations and demands of being the UFC light heavyweight champion got his mind so twisted that he couldn’t even practice.

Evans talked openly about getting his tail kicked thoroughly in practice, and no matter what he tried, he wasn’t able to do jack about it. In fact, he claims to have even gotten whooped in his dreams.

Now that’s rough. Who was he fighting, The Ghost of Christmas Past?

At what weight class?

In regards to losing his first professional MMA bout, Evans expressed that it was the best thing to ever happen to him. Getting Machida’s fist imprint on his grill helped him put things into perspective and he is now ready to move forward.

“It’s sad that you have to lose consciousness to get a wakening,” Evans said.

Although Machida spanked him in under 3Rounds, the confident-borderline-cocky fighter wasn’t so eager to give the newly-crowned champ props for jacking his belt. In fact, right before referee Mario Yamasaki pulled Machida off the battered Evans, “Sugar” told him, “Man, you hit like a…”

It appears as though he wants to use a word that rhymes with’ itch,’ but stops just short. It’s in the final seconds of the clip, so can you judge for yourself.
