Paul “Semtex” Daley committed the ultimate sin following his lopsided unanimous decision loss to bitter rival Josh Koscheck at UFC 113. After getting manhandled for the better part of the 15-minute affair, a frustrated Daley walked up to Kos and landed the best left hook of the night – unfortunately, it was well after the final horn had sounded.
“He’s done,” White said of Daley’s fate during the UFC 113 post-fight news conference. “I don’t care if he fights in every show all over the world and becomes the best and everybody thinks he’s the pound-for-pound best in the world.
“He will never fight in the UFC ever again.”
Although it wasn’t the most exciting contest fans have ever witnessed, as evidenced by the occasional boos the Bell Centre crowd aimed at Kos for his less than thrilling ground attack, Koscheck thoroughly trounced the slugger in the top contender matchup.
“It landed,” Koscheck sarcastically said of the sucker punch. “It was probably his best punch of the fight.”
Oddly, White said he had been impressed with Daley’s performance up until his despicable actions after the scrap. Despite Daley’s immense potential, he’s too much of a loose cannon to keep around – particularly with the added eyes on MMA thanks to last month’s “Strikeforce: Nashville” brawl on CBS.
“I’m probably the most lenient guy in sports, and this is probably one of the most lenient organizations,” White stated. “We’re all human, we all mistakes, things happen. There’s no excuse for that. These guys are professional athletes. You don’t ever hit a guy blatantly after the bell like that, whether you’re frustrated or not. It was probably one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen.”
In a desperate attempt to save his job, Daley told White after the fight that he didn’t hear the bell.
