After his disappointing loss to Alan Belcher at UFC 113 this past weekend, former middleweight top contender Patrick Cote will be undergoing surgery tomorrow to fix a fracture in his right hand.

It was Cote’s first fight in almost 17 months. His last come against champion Anderson Silva at UFC 90 in October 2008.

Cote never really got going during his bout with Belcher, where he lost by submission after Belcher caught him with a rear-naked choke in the 2ndRound.

We’re not sure when Cote injured his hand, but he updated fans of his status on Twitter by posting a picture of the x-ray that was taken immediately after the contest.

Prior to his title bout with Silva, Cote had seen his best success as an MMA fighter by putting together five consecutive wins. He has now lost his last two inside the Octagon.

It’s believed the Canadian will be out of action for at least three weeks.
