As expected, the UFC will counter this Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery” event with a two-and-a-half hour presentation of “UFC’s Ultimate Fights.”
While Strikeforce hosts their Showtime broadcast at 10PM ET/PT, Spike TV will air seven of the best Octagon scraps that have gone down thus far in 2010 during the same timeslot.
“UFC’s Ultimate Fights” will feature first-time freebies of the instant classic between Leonard Garcia and Chan Sung Jung from WEC 48, as well the UFC 111 heavyweight interim title bout between Shane Carwin and Frank Mir.
I wonder why they opted to not showcase Anderson Silva’s unforgettable middleweight title defense against Demian Maia at UFC 112???
“Heavy Artillery” will certainly live up to its moniker, as two heavyweight contests will headline the extravaganza. Former UFC champ Andrei Arlovski meets Antonio Silva in the evening’s co-main event, while Strikerforce champion Alistair Overeem will put his title on the line for the first time when he meets Brett Rogers in the card’s featured attraction.
Here are the lineups MMA fans will have to “choose” between on Saturday, however you can always program your DVRs:
