All the contestants slated to compete in tomorrow night’s “Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery” event tipped the scales Friday afternoon inside the Scottrade Center in St Louis, Missouri.
Saturday’s Showtime broadcast features the heavyweight title bout between champ Alistair Overeem and Brett Rogers. Overeem holds an impressive 32-11 MMA record, however this will mark his first Strikeforce appearance since steamrolling Paul Buentello to capture the belt back in November 2007.
He’s since fought outside of the promotion on seven separate occasions.
Rogers stakes claim to a 10-1 professional record and has finished in all of his wins. Unfortunately, Rogers attempted the highly ineffective face-to-fist defense against Fedor Emelianenko in his last bout and wound up paying dearly for it.
