As expected, Strikeforce has officially announced former WWE superstar Bobby Lashley will face unbeaten Ron Sparks inside the NOKIA Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on June 16th.
“I’m excited about fighting again,’’ Lashley stated in the press release. “I’ve been working very hard and I am continuing to learn. The guy I am fighting is huge. This will be a great fight.’’
The 33-year-old Lashley owns a perfect 5-0 record and was last seen stopping Wes Sims with an onslaught of punches in the 1stRound of their January tango.
Speaking of winning your first five professional fights, Sparks will enter the cage with the same mark as his highly touted rival. Sparks handed Johnathan Ivey a unanimous decision loss last June.
“I like to get in and get the job done,’’ said the hard-hitting Sparks. “My last fight went all four rounds, but there is nothing I enjoy more than knocking a person out.’’
Sparks has been calling for a big name to test his skills against for quite some time, and for the most part – Lashley fits the bill. Well, at the very least a step up in competition.
“Trust me, we’re going to go down swinging,’’ he said. “There will be no tap-outs. I am grateful of the opportunity Strikeforce is giving me and I am very confident of a victory.’’
Strikeforce also announced that DREAM welterweight champion Marius Zaromskis would face Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos in the Showtime broadcast.
