Today, the UFC officially announced a UFC 100 welterweight scrap between TJ Grant and Dong Hyun Kim, marking the final bout to complete their highly anticipated July 11th event.
Word hit the street earlier this week that Rory Markham recently suffered a quadriceps injury during training which forced the organization to scrap his “The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale” bout against Grant on Saturday.
Jonathan Goulet had previously alerted the UFC that a dislocated shoulder would prevent him from competing in their monumental centennial show against Kim.
The circumstances worked out tremendously in Grant’s favor as he now gets to fight in the UFC’s biggest MMA event ever. He is currently riding a five-fight winning streak, including a W over Ryo Chonan in his Octagon debut at UFC 97.
Kim has been semi-perfect though his first 13 professional bouts as he has a Draw and a No Contest on his resume. After taking a razor-thin split decision over Matt Brown at UFC 88 last fall, he technically lost his UFC 94 fight with Karo Parisyan, however the contest was subsequently overturned to a No Contest after the Armenian tested positive for Hydrocodone, Hydromorphone, and Oxymorphone – pain relieving agents that are recognized as banned substances.
Here is the complete roster that will be fighting inside the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas, Nevada:
