According to reports, lightweight KJ Noons has been afforded the opportunity to avenge his loss to Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett at “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum” on June 26th inside the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker confirmed the mulligan with Sherdog.com on Wednesday night, shortly after the Los Angeles Lakers posted their second consecutive impressive victory over the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Western Conference Finals. The Lakes are only six wins shy of capturing their 16th title.
Back to the lecture at hand, Noons was last seen taking a unanimous decision over Andre “Dida” Amado at Dream.13 this past March. The 26-year-old kickboxer owns a respectable 8-2 professional record, however was slapped silly by Bennett in their “EliteXC: Destiny” shootout back in February 2007.
Bennett holds a 22-16-2 mark and has gone a mundane 4-3 since defeating Noons. Most recently, Bobby Green put the controversial lightweight to sleep in the 1stRound of their KOTC scrap in December 2009.
Stikeforce golden boy Fedor Emelianenko will headline the Showtime broadcast against Fabricio Werdum.
The organization recently announced 145-pound women’s champ Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos would defend her crown against Jan Finney on the card as well.
