According to up-and-coming UFC heavyweight Shane Carwin, he will be making his return to the Octagon at UFC 104 on October 24th. Carwin posted on his Twitter account today that he isn’t sure who he will be fighting, however his fans can catch him rumbling inside the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
“Looks like I’ll be fighting October 24 in LA. Excited to know,” Carwin Tweeted.
If UFC fans weren’t aware of Carwin’s skills before, they were placed on high alert after he knocked out Gabriel Gonzaga in the 1stRound of their UFC 96 affair. That bumped the Denver-native’s professional record to a perfect 11-0, with all of his bouts ending before the final horn.
The timing couldn’t be more perfect for the UFC to arrange the highly anticipated Shane Carwin vs. Cain Velasquez scrap. Velasquez, like Carwin, is one of the division’s hottest stars and both have expressed their desires to challenge for the strap sooner rather than later.
Velasquez is coming off a convincing unanimous decision victory over Cheick Kongo at UFC 99 last month, bumping his record to a perfect 6-0.
(UPDATED on 7/1/9 at 2:41PM PT)
Carwin just Tweeted that Velasquez appears to be his UFC 104 foe.
“Oops I was not supposed to say anything, “Carwin posted seconds ago. “Got to get used to people watching me. No bout agreement yet. Looks like Cain and I if all goes.”
