As expected, Strikeforce confirmed today that former EliteXC lightweight champion KJ Noons will face Conor Heun at their June 16th event in Los Angeles, California.

MMAWeekly.com reported yesterday that Noons’ original opponent, Charles “Crazy Horse” Bennett, was forced to withdraw for an undisclosed reason.

“They’re a lot of good fights out there for me in Strikeforce,” Noons said in the press release. “I’m looking forward to getting a good win and moving on to bigger and better things. Fighting in Los Angeles is very cool. I’m sure I’ll have a lot of friends and fans there rooting for me.”

Heun is a Brazilian jiu jitsu purple belt, however prefers to kickbox inside the cage. He’s a former IFL and EliteXC athlete who turned pro in 2006.

The event takes place inside the Nokia Theatre in Downtown L.A. and will feature a 195-pound catchweight bout between MMA veterans Robbie Lawler and Renato “Babalu” Sobral.

Here are the fighters rumored/slated to compete in the Showtime broadcast:

Tim Kennedy vs. Trevor Prangley
Shane Del Rosario vs. Lolohea Mahe
Conor Heun vs. KJ Noons
Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos vs. Marius Zaromskis
Robbie Lawler vs. Renato “Babalu” Sobral (195-Pound Catchweight Bout)
