The UFC has just added two scraps to their “Ultimate Fight Night 19” event on September 16th. Spike TV mainstay Jeremy Stephens will be taking on UFC newcomer Ronny Torres and Xtreme Couture-trained Mike Pyle will meet Chris Wilson inside the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The hard-nosed Stephens has hit a bit of a rough patch in his MMA career as he has dropped his last two contests. This will be his seventh fight with the UFC and it will be the 5th time that he has failed to make it onto a pay-per-view event.
Granted going 3-3 inside the Octagon is hardly a way to prove you deserve to be on the grandest of stages, however if nothing else, Stephens is entertaining and always comes to fight.
Torres will be riding an eight-fight winning streak into his Octagon debut. Although he holds a 14-1 pro record, perhaps his most impressive stat is the fact he has finished in 12 of those W’s.
And everyone knows how much the UFC loves finishers.
Speaking of debuts, Pyle lost his UFC opener to Brock Larson at UFC 98 in May. He holds a 17-6-1 record, however two straight losses could very well have him standing in the unemployment line.
Speaking of unemployment, Wilson will be entering the Octagon for the fourth time, with the welterweight dropping two of his previous three battles inside the cage. What doesn’t help matters is the fact that he competes in one of the UFC’s deepest weight classes, making him an easy target when it’s time for the organization to trim the fat again.
But that won’t be an issue if he wins. Pretty simple, right?
