For those living in the U.K. that were worried about not being able to watch UFC 100 LIVE, you can sleep easier now as the UFC announced today that it has partnered with Sky Channel 433 to make sure you Brits won’t miss out on the monumental event.
With the recent collapse Setanta Sports just prior to UFC 99, the UFC’s previous U.K. broadcast partner, the organization has been scrambling to find a suitable replacement to televise their centennial show.
Although today’s deal solidifies that, the downside to this partnership is that Sky is not fed into as many homes as Setanta was. With this in mind, the UFC has been pushing their U.K. fans to order the pay-per-view event via uk.ufc.com.
Sky will air a nine-hour marathon of Octagon programming, starting with all five episodes of the “UFC’s Ultimate 100: Greatest Fights” special and the one-hour “UFC 100 Countdown” preview special serving as lead-ins to UFC 100.
UFC 100 will be popping off inside the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas this Saturday, and airs on Sky in the U.K. on Sunday at 3AM local time.
The UFC and Setanta started their partnership back in January 2008. During their time together, Sentana reportedly lost millions of dollars while brushing off talks they were on the cusp of going belly-up. In June, the company ceased its U.K. operations and is set to lay off roughly 200 employees.
Oddly, the UFC also announced they have secured a deal with Setanta Ireland to make sure that Eire and Northern Ireland UFC fans don’t miss out on the historic show.
