Despite handing Randy Couture a 2ndRound TKO loss en route to jacking his title at UFC 91, reigning heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar has remained in fairly close contact with Captain America. Couture is one of the few men in the sport the former WWE superstar actually respects.
So much so, that the controversial wrestler extended Couture an invitation to train with him. The Hall of Famer gladly accepted, as the pair spent this past week together up in the trenches of Minnesota.
“I’ve always had a lot of respect for Randy. He paved the highway for the wrestler in the UFC,” Lesnar stated. “The good thing about Randy is that he doesn’t carry a chip on his shoulder. Both of us came into the Octagon as men, and there has to be a winner and a loser. That’s just the way it is.”
Couture is slated to face boxing legend James Toney at UFC 118 inside the TD Garden, home of the hated Boston Celtics. For his second straight outing, Lesnar will be looking to unify the heavyweight crown. This time he’ll be pitted against his most physically imposing foe to date in Shane Carwin.
“The biggest heavyweight battle in history” goes down July 3rd inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
