WEC featherweight Mark Hominick

After competing in the “Fight of the Night” at WEC 49, Canadian featherweight Mark Hominick used his post-fight interview to push for a fight with the 145-pound champ Jose Aldo Jr.

“Every man in this division is so tough, but there’s no one in this division that can bring what I can to the table against Jose Aldo,” Hominick stated after the win.

Things looked dicey for Hominick as Yves Jabouin was taking it to him throughout the 1stRound with a wide array of punches, kicks and elbows.

To his credit, Hominick remained calm and used his superior technique to pick his shots, which allowed him to break Jabouin’s guard as the opening stanza expired.

The extremely active Jabouin was nowhere to be found as the 2ndRound began, which gave Hominick the opportnity to land a crushing liver punch that folded his opponent over. However, he somehow survived the onslaught and dropped Hominick with a big right hook of his own.

Once again Hominick remained calm and got a full mount on Jabouin and started to reign down punches to his face and body until the referee called the bout.

It was an impressive showing that may have very well earned him a title shot against the seemingly unbeatable Aldo, who just got done kicking Urijah Faber out of the division.
