Strikeforce Heavyweight Champ Alistair Overeem

Fedor Emelianenko will be taking on Fabricio Werdum in the main event of tonight’s “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum” event on Showtime and the Strikeforce heavyweight champ is in the house to watch his next challenger perform in person.

“I hope Fedor will win the fight. I’m a big fan of his fighting and I’m looking forward to fighting him myself,” Alistair Overeem stated during Saturday night’s broadcast.

Overeem dominated in his first title defense at “Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery” this past May. He ground and pounded Brett “The Grim” Rogers for an easy 1stRound TKO victory.

The Dutchman fully understands that the man who leaves the HP Pavilion victorious tonight will be his next foe.

“Whoever wins tonight, I want next,” the champion confirmed.

A Fedor vs. Overeem heavyweight title bout is the best fight that Strikeforce can put together, but first things first. Fedor has to beat a very dangerous Werdum later tonight.

The Russian is a 6-to-1 favorite to extend his winning streak to an impressive 28.
