UFC heavyweight Brock Lesnar

After witnessing one of their own turn the mixed martial arts world upside-down at UFC 116, Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com caught up with some of Brock Lesnar’s former professional wrestling colleagues as they expressed their joy for the Octagon’s undisputed king.

The stage was all set Saturday night. It was as though the WWE wrote the script and it miraculously appeared in UFC president Dana White’s inbox. The contest was dubbed “The Biggest Battle in Heavyweight History” and the two behemoths didn’t disappoint.

It was the ultimate battle between Good vs. Evil, Pompous vs. Polite, Arrogant vs. Appreciative, etc. Adding more sizzle to the fire was the fact Lesnar was coming off a 12-month hiatus after his life-threatening bout with diverticulitis.

Lesnar was deemed an early 2-to-1 favorite by the Gambling Gods, however the money dramatically started to move in the underdog’s direction. Their betting lines were nearly a Pick ’em by the time the cage door slammed shut inside the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.

It was the first time Lesnar entered an MMA scrap where his adversary was almost as beastly as he. Although Carwin valiantly stood toe-to-toe with the former WWE superstar, and had him on the brink of defeat, Lesnar showed why he’s “still the toughest S.O.B. around.”

Lesnar’s come-from-behind submission victory was an instant classic and much appreciated by his former pro wrestling co-workers.
