Miguel Torres vs. Charlie Valencia Will Co-Headline WEC 51

According to multiple reports, former bantamweight king Miguel Torres will look to end his two-fight skid on September 30th when he meets Charlie Valencia at WEC 51.

The co-main event was confirmed Friday afternoon by MMAWeekly.com, as well as MMAMania.com.

Although Torres owns a disgusting 37-3 professional record, he’s determined to climb back up the division he once dominated. Torres lost his title to Brian Bowles in 2009 and parlayed that into a submission defeat to Joseph Benavidez at WEC 47.

Bowles lost his strap at WEC 47 to reigning champ Dominick Cruz, who will defend his newly minted hardware against JoeB135 at WEC 50 in August.

Although Torres needs a win more desperately than LeBron James apparently needs attention, WEC brass didn’t do the owner of MMA’s baddest mullet any favors by pitting him against Valencia.

Valencia holds a respectable 12-5 mark and is currently enjoying a three-fight win streak. He’s been efficiently making his way up the bantamweight totem pole and a W over the division’s former champ should certainly solidify his resume.

WEC 51 is expected to take place inside 1ST Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado. Here are the bouts that are rumored for the show:

Leonard Garcia vs. TBD
Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone vs. TBD
Chan Sung Jung “The Korean Zombie” vs. George Roop
Miguel Torres vs. Charlie Valencia
Manny Gamburyan vs. Jose Aldo (WEC Featherweight Champion)
