UFC light heavyweight Quinton "Rampage" Jackson

It’s being reported that a light heavyweight scrap between former champions Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Lyoto Machida is in the works for a yet-to-be announced UFC event this autumn.

“Almost ready 2 sign the bout agreement! i would tell yall who im gonna get down with, but i cant spell his name,” Jackson Tweeted late Tuesday night.

UFC president Dana White hinted at the possibility of the 205-pound shootout a couple of months back and MMAWeekly.com has since confirmed “The Dragon” was the complicated name Rampage was unable to piece together.

After being humbled by bitter rival Rashad Evans in his last outing at UFC 114, Rampage was quickly put to work at his part-time gig as the hype man for his summer film The A-Team. Now that B.A. Baracus’ international promotional tour is completed, it’s time to get back in the gym to pay some bills.

Machida lost the light heavyweight crown in his last outing at UFC 113 to reigning champ Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. After suffering the first loss of his professional career, “The Dragon” called upon his old Brazilian buddy Anderson Silva to help him recapture his mojo.

According to the report, this contest is all but a done deal. No word on when and where the former champs will collide, however a November event in Germany appears to be the front-runner to host the blockbuster match-up.

  • I hope Rampage gets a better camp. He is the best fighter at the wolf camp. And when you train — you are suppose to train with people who can improve your game. The wolves in England aint got a trick they can teach. He needs to go to a good camp — or get his ass beaten again.

  • rampage is just a one dimensional boxer he is not even going to land one punch on machida.

  • Well, I like both fighters, yet to see them scrap with eachother, this is one fight I didn’t want to see. I will stick with Rampage, although I hate seeing Machida ever lose. I was so glad to see him knock Sho’ Boat Evans clean out. That made my day, seriously. I want to see both fighters rematch Evans, also. This time, Rampage needs to beat the heck out of Evans, though. Hopefully, Rampage will be in top shape from here on out. I also want to see both fight Rua as well.

  • I TO AGREE THAT RAMPAGE NEEDS TO MOVE HIS TRAINING CAMP NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE OBVIOUS REASONS HE NEEDS TO TRAIN WITH BETTER FIGHTERS TO PUSH HIM, BUT DOES HE KNOW THE HITLERS HOME WAS CALLED THE WOLF’S LAIR AND WHY HE WOULD WANT TO BE CONNECETED WITH ANYTHING LIKE THAT? EVEN IF ITS JUST A COINSIDENCE WITCH I DONT THINK IT IS BUT COME ON REALLY…
IF RAMPAGE GETS BACK TO THE FIGHTER HE ONCE WAS I TAKE RAMPAGE OVER LYOTO MACHIDA IN THE 2ND ROUND, I LIKE MACHIDA AS A FIGHTER BUT RAMPAGE AT HIS BEST JUST CANT BE BEAT!!!!!!!

  • Machida by Unanimous Decision but I hope Machida KO’s Rampage. Anybody think Rampage has this fight easily is seriously underestimating Machida. Machida’s fast, faster than Rashad, better tactician, elusive, has more techniques in his arsenal, better game plan, Machida has better stand up Rampage just hits harder, better range, better wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, and Sumo Wrestling.
People say Shogun has lit a game plan to beat Machida but Wanderlei, Shogun, Rashad and Forest Griffin have already lit a game paln to beat Rampage. Either Thai Clinch, Kicking the shit out of him, or out wresting Rampage. I’ve got a feeling Machida will open a new Game Plan to defeating Rampage.
And Just because Shogun beat Machida doesn’t mean Rampage can Shogun fought Rampage and raped him actually. Machida went five rounds with Shogun with Shogun in the first fight, and put up a fight in the second until he was caught. Rampage got raped in his fight with Shogun and Shogun will do it again. Rampage couldn’t even lay finger on Shogun that says enough about Shoguns speed.
Rampage does have a chance though he’s a tough hard to knock out. He has a harder punch and maybe stronger but that’s it. He has punchers chance but nothing else. He doesn’t uses his wrestling anymore and has said he prefers to stand and bang. Another thing is Rampage couldn’t knock out Forrest Griffin or Jardine and Machida’s way above those guys so what makes you think Rampage has this so easily. And Machida wasn’t knocked from Shogun one punch, he was countered and then viscously grounded and pounded into a knock out.
Anyways Machida most likely has this through unanimous decision, but I hope Machida knocks out Rampage because it’s for the good of Karate and will boost his record.
And it’ll shut the haters up about Machida.
