It has been over a month since Wanderlei Silva abruptly pulled out of his UFC 116 scrap against Yoshihiro Akiyama with broken ribs and a bum knee. However, it wasn’t until recently that the “The Axe Murderer” went under the knife to fix his banged up wheel.
The reason we know is because the charismatic slugger has just posted a dramatic video blog of his July 22nd knee surgery.
Silva claims a dominant 33-10-1 record and managed to avoid another disastrous three-fight losing streak by defeating Michael Bisping via unanimous decision at UFC 110. Although the win was a much needed one, the PrideFC legend has dropped five of his last seven scraps.
In the clip, Wandy talks of making one final championship run to close out his illustrious career. Whether that comes to fruition remains to be seen, but what’s undeniable is that when it’s all said and done, the Brazilian will go down as one of the best to ever strap on a pair of MMA gloves.
