MC Hammer, author of one of the most well-known songs of the 1990’s (“U Can’t Touch This”), has decided to test the MMA waters with his new company Alchemist Management.
Hammer was the first hip-hop artist to achieve diamond status (10-million albums sold) and has parlayed his musical success to other business ventures, which has led him directly to his latest challenge.
“I’ve been a fan of combat sports for years,” Hammer said in a press release. “MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world and this is a great opportunity for us to launch a full-service management company. Alchemist Management will leverage its relationships and resources for the benefit of fighters, the sponsors, and the industry at large.”
5thRound.com was informed Mr. “Too Legit to Quit” will be attending all three Octagon events in August, “UFC on Versus: Jones vs. Matyushenko” this Sunday in San Diego, CA, “UFC 117: Silva vs. Sonnen” in his hometown of Oakland, CA, as well as “UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn 2″ in Beantown to support the athletes already signed under his banner.
UFC studs Vladimir Matyushenko, Nate Marquardt, James McSweeney and Jorge Rivera are a few of the many talented fighters Alchemist Management overseas.
He once transformed the hip-hop game with his catchy lyrics and charismatic dance moves, could he possibly “Turn This Motha Out?”
