The UFC has just officially announced four scraps for their UFC 103 event slated to jump off on September 19th inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Tickets for the show go on sale to UFC Fight Club members this Thursday, July 16th, at 11AM ET/8AM PT. UFC.com newsletter subscribers can purchase tickets the following day at 11AM ET/8AM PT, and the general public gets the left overs on Saturday, July 18th, at 11AM ET/8AM PT.
As expected, “The Ultimate Fighter 8” winner Efrain Escudero will make his debut as an “official” UFC fighter when he faces a much improved Cole Miller.
Hermes Franca challenges Xtreme Couture-trained Tyson Griffin in an important lightweight affair. Both fighters have hovered around the slightly-above-mediocre-but-not-quite-top-contender-level for quite some time now, so someone needs to make a push.
Controversial welterweight Josh Koscheck will be rolling out the welcome wagon as he greets MMA vet Frank Trigg in his Octagon return. Trigg will be ending his four-year Octagon hiatus.
And, in what appears to be, a top contender match in the welterweight division, Martin Kampmann will tango with Mike Swick. It’s not decisively clear who should be next in line for a shot a Georges St-Pierre’s title, but the winner of this fight would be just as good as any.
UFC 103 will mark the organization’s first promotion in the Lone Star State since they hosted UFC 69 in Houston back in 2007.
Keep in mind, just because their faces aren’t on the initial UFC 103 poster, it doesn’t mean they can’t re-Photoshop it as a heavyweight fight between Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Junior Dos Santos, as well as an appearance by former UFC middleweight king Rich Franklin are expected to headline the card.
