Now that “UFC on Versus: Jones vs. Matyushenko” has officially broken the seal on the longest MMA hiatus of 2010, let’s take a look ahead to this Saturday’s highly anticipated “UFC 117: Silva vs. Sonnen” event inside Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.

A middleweight grudge match between champion Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen will headline the pay-per-view event. “The Spider” hasn’t really been seen in his last three uneventful title defenses, but the challenger is doing everything in his power to make sure Silva comes out to play.

In addition, a critical welterweight scrap between top contenders Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves will serve as the card’s co-main event. It’s believed the victor will stand behind Josh Koscheck for a shot at Georges St-Pierre’s crown. However, the UFC 121 match-up between Martin Kampmann and Jake Shields could influence who gets next dibs as well.

Speaking of #1 contender fights, UFC president Dana White has claimed the winner between Junior Dos Santos and Roy Nelson will earn themselves a title shot in their next Octagon outing.

Here is the complete roster for UFC 117:

Preliminary Bouts:

Tim Boetsch vs. Todd Brown
Rodney Wallace vs. Phil Davis
Dennis Hallman vs. Ben Saunders
Johnny Hendricks vs Charlie Brenneman
Christian Morecraft vs. Stefan Struve
Dustin Hazelett vs. Rick Story

Main Bouts:

Junior Dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson
Matt Hughes vs. Ricardo Almeida
Clay Guida vs. Rafael dos Anjos (Swing Bout)
Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch
Chael Sonnen vs. Anderson Silva (UFC Middleweight Championship)
