UFC Legend Randy Couture Takes the Mound for the Oakland Athletics

On Saturday, August 7th, UFC Hall of Famer Randy “The Natural” Couture will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Oakland A’s vs. Texas Rangers major league baseball game. The first pitch is set for 12:55PM local time and will be caught by A’s first baseman Daric Barton.

Couture is town promoting “UFC 117: Silva vs. Sonnen,” which will take place later that evening inside Oracle Arena in Oaktown. His next fight is scheduled for August 28th when he takes on boxing legend James Toney at “UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn II” at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass.

Couture is a three-time former heavyweight champion and two-time light heavyweight champion. He is the only athlete in UFC history to win a championship after being inducted into the Hall of Fame member, and is one of only two men to win Octagon titles in two different weight classes.
