The California State Athletic Commission has just released the salaries for all the fighters that participated in Sunday’s “UFC on Versus: Jones vs. Matyushenko” event inside the San Diego Sports Arena in Southern California.
Jon Jones, the card’s clear-cut superstar, pocketed a cool $46,000 for his impressive 1stRound TKO over Vladimir Matyushenko. Although the veteran was handed his 5th professional loss this weekend, he banked $31,000 for his 112-seconds of work.
Surprisingly, Takanori Gomi was the event’s highest paid fighter as he earned $80,000 for putting Tyson Griffin down in the opening ticks of their lightweight contest. The TKO also earned Gomi another 40K for “Knockout of the Night” honors, so the Japanese sensation will be taking a total of $120,000 back to the Orient with him.
