Not that it matters, but 5thRound.com has obtained a copy of the official scorecard for Saturday night’s main event at UFC 117 between middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen.
The talkative wrestler dominated Silva for 23 minutes and 10 seconds of the scheduled 25-minute affair, however the Brazilian had his prayers miraculously answered when he slapped on a desperation triangle armbar submission that abruptly ended Sonnen’s evening.
Sonnen had the scrap well in hand until the 5thRound horn was forced to sound. All three judges had the challenger pulling off the upset if he could have held on for another couple of minutes. Two of the three officials sitting Octagon-side had Sonnen winning the 1stRound 10-8, while one of them also awarded him the third stanza by the same margin.
However, it was all for naught as Silva escaped Oakland, California with his middleweight belt fasten securely around his waist. If anything, the scorecards just rub massive amounts of salt onto Sonnen’s fresh and deep wounds.
