If heavyweight Bobby Lashley wants to be a serious mixed martial artist, then signing with TNA Wrestling was not the best way to go about it. Although Lashley inked a deal with the pro wrestling company, he will continue training MMA and has UFC champ Brock Lesnar in his sights.
“I’m not going to say anything bad on Brock because Brock is the champion. My sights are set on Brock and I’m not saying that I want to fight him because he is the wrestling guy,” Lashley told ESPN Radio 1050. “I am saying that because I am a heavyweight fighter and he’s the heavyweight champ. Eventually, I do want to fight Brock for that title.”
TNA’s home offices are based in Florida, which will allow Lashley the ability to continue honing his MMA skills alongside his American Top Team teammates.
Although he holds a perfect 4-0 MMA record, he has quite a ways to go before he gets a shot at the UFC, let alone its king.
The former WWE employee will appear at Sunday’s Victory Road pay-per-view show in Orlando, Florida.
TNA posted a YouTube video of Lashley’s announcement:
