Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champ Muhammed King Mo Lawal

In the latest edition of MMA Live, the talented ESPN2 crew recapped Wednesday night’s spectacular “WEC 50: Cruz vs. Benavidez” show, as well as broke down Saturday’s highly anticipated “Strikeforce: Houston” event inside the Toyota Center in Texas.

This weekend’s Showtime broadcast will feature two championship bouts. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza will battle Tim Kennedy for the vacant middleweight crown, courtesy of Jake Shields’ exit stage-left, and Muhammad “King Mo” Lawal will make his first Strikeforce light heavyweight title defense against Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante in the card’s featured attraction.

King Mo is an NCAA Division II national wrestling champion who captured countless amateur titles before entering the world of MMA. He was last seen showcasing his superior ground game against former champ Gegard Mousasi at “Strikeforce: Nashville” en route to jacking the 205-pound belt.

Cavalcante rebounded nicely from an upset TKO loss to Mike Pyle in his Strikeforce debut. The talented Brazilian has since gone on to put down Aaron Rosa and more recently Antwain Britt at “Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery” in May.

All nine of his career victories have come via violent finishes, with eight of them by way of knockout.
