The Nevada State Athletic Commission has suspended 11 “WEC 50: Cruz vs. Benavidez” contestants for various injuries sustained during this past Wednesday’s fights. The event took place inside The Pearl at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas and was headlined by a bantamweight title scrap between champ Dominick Cruz and Joseph Benavidez.

Unlike their first tango one year ago where Cruz used his superior wrestling to cruise to a unanimous decision win, he kept Benavidez off balance with his fancy footwork for most of their mulligan and was able to secure a few rounds with some late takedowns.

Although it appeared Cruz controlled most of the rounds, he was forced to settle for a split decision victory in their rematch. It was his 16th career win in 17 outings.

Here is the injury list stemming from Wednesday’s Versus broadcast (Courtesy of MMAJunkie.com):

* Dominick Cruz: suspended 180 days or until cleared by negative x-ray due to potential fracture of right hand
* Shane Roller: suspended 180 days or until cleared by negative x-ray due to potential left knee injury
* Scott Jorgensen: suspended 180 days or until cleared by negative x-ray due to potential fracture of left hand; also suspended 30 days with no contact for 21 days for precautionary reasons

* Danny Castillo: suspended 180 days or until cleared by negative x-ray due to potential fracture of left hand; also suspended 30 days with no contact for 21 days for precautionary reasons
* Joseph Benavidez: suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days for precautionary reasons
* Zach Micklewright: suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days for precautionary reasons
