ProElite and CBS agree to TV deal

MMAJunkie has just reported that ProElite (the parent company of EliteXC) and CBS have come to an agreement that would put Mixed Martial Arts on prime time television. Over the last few months it was widely known that the UFC was in serious talks with CBS, but now ProElite has stepped in and made the deal happen according to the report.

MMAJunkie went on to say that events would likely be held every other month on CBS, and that an announcement could be coming within the next couple of days that could include an upcoming schedule.

This would be an extremely large victory for ProElite and would certainly deliver a blow to the UFC. The announcement will definitely keep the guys at ZUFFA on their toes to make something happen outside of just the Yahoo! Pay-Per-View deal.

With fighters like Nick Diaz, Jake Shields, Gina Carano (Crush on American Gladiators) and Kimbo Slice already on their roster, this would make it easier for ProElite to sign fighters who are looking to get themselves some exposure outisde of the UFC. With Tito Ortiz’ UFC contract coming to an end at UFC 84, there’s no doubt that ProElite will be in the sweepstakes and that an Ortiz agreement alongside a CBS television deal would put EliteXC on the map.
