Understanding fans are still buzzing from Frankie Edgar’s spectacular performance at last week’s UFC 118 event in Beantown, it’s easy to see how UFC Fight Night 22” on September 15th is being overlooked.
The freebie Spike TV broadcast takes place inside the Frank Erwin Special Events Center on the campus of The University of Texas. The show kicks off at 8PM ET/PT.
Nine bouts have officially been confirmed by the world’s biggest MMA promotion, with a lightweight scrap between Yves Edwards and John Gunderson expected to be announced shortly. The card will feature a pivotal middleweight battle between Rousimar Palhares and Nathan Marquardt.
Marquardt looks to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Chael Sonnen, who earned a shot at Anderson Silva’s title with his performance at UFC 109 in February. Despite the minor setback, Marquardt still owns an impressive 29-9-2 resume and remains one of the planet’s best 185-pounders.
Palhares holds a respectable 11-2 record and has rattled off three straight wins. The Brazilian jiu jitsu stud has finished eight of his wins via submission, so you know he’ll be seeking to drag the former top contender to the canvas STAT.
The Gambling Gods have pegged “Nate the Great” as nearly a 2.5-to-1 favorite to get back on the winning track.
