With less than three weeks before showtime, Dream.16 has added some much needed star power to their September 25th fight card.
A lightweight scrap between champ Shinya Aoki and Marcus Aurelio, an exciting affair with “Lion” Takeshi Inoue and Kazuyuki Miyata, as well as Hideo Tokoro vs. Joachim Hansen were all confirmed by the organization.
“I thought my fight would be announced a little earlier,” Aoki joked of his non-title match-up. “It’s only just three weeks until the fight. I know the other fighters might be a little bothered by that, but we will do our best.”
Aoki owns an impressive 24-5 (1 NC) record and was last seen submitting Tatsuya Kawajiri at Dream.15 in July. Prior to that dominant outing, “Tobikan Judan” suffered a lopsided loss to Strikeforce champ Gilbert Melendez. Regardless, the grappling ace has won for of his last five scraps.
Although the contest marks Aurelio’s debut for the Japanese promotion, he holds an extensive 20-8 resume and has competed all over the world, including the UFC.
Dream.16 will be jumping off inside Nippon Gaishi Hall in Nagoya, Japan. HDNet will broadcast the show live in North America.
