According to reports, a middleweight scrap between Mark Munoz and Aaron Simpson will go down in Motown on November 20th at UFC 123.
A source close to the situation confirmed the bout with MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday evening.
Munoz had rattled off three consecutive wins since leaving the light heavyweight division following his loss to Matt Hamill at UFC 96. It appeared as though “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” was violently making his way down title contention lane, but he suffered a disappointing split decision loss to Yushin Okami last month at “UFC on Versus 2.”
Simpson owned a perfect 7-0 record before posting a 2ndRound TKO loss to Chris Leben at “The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale” earlier this summer. Like Munoz, the former All-American wrestler has shown a propensity for finishing off his opponents in victory. All but one of Simpson’s wins have come before the final horns have sounded.
Although the event has not been officially announced by the world’s premier mixed martial arts show, the fight card’s rumored roster is nothing short of blockbuster.
Here are the athletes expected to participate inside The Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit, Michigan:
Darren Elkins vs. Edson Barboza
