Moments after officially announcing UFC 123 would take place November 20th, the promotion released the official video trailer featuring headliners Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida. The light heavyweight scrap will serve as the main event in the Octagon’s return to Detroit, Michigan.
UFC IX all the way back in 1996 was the last time “Hockeytown” had the honor of hosting a UFC event, and you can bet the Palace of Auburn Hills will be rockin’ when the world’s premier mixed martial arts show comes rolling back through town.
Both Jackson and Machida are coming off losses and are in need of a win to remain in the 205-pound title hunt. It would be hard to imagine a devastating finish wouldn’t catapult the victor into championship affair in their next outing.
Rampage owns an extensive 30-8 resume, but was last seen getting humbled by bitter rival Rashad Evans at UFC 114. Actually, fans saw him last on the silver screen starring in summer the blockbuster movie “The A-Team” as B.A. Baracus.
“The Dragon” holds a nearly perfect 16-1 record, although his sole blemish was his most costly. Machida lost his light heavyweight crown to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 113 this past May.
