BJ Penn has created quite the viral stir with his most recent YouTube video where the UFC lightweight champion is seen jumping vertically out of a three-foot deep swimming pool.

Chicago Bear rookie Jarron Gilbert was the first to make this kind of a video earlier this year, which he strategically released just before the NFL draft. The 288-pound lineman thought that it would be a creative way to show potential employers that, although he is massive, he is still agile and explosive enough to accomplish such a feat.

It appears to have worked as the Bears snagged the former San Jose State student in the 3rdRound of this year’s draft.

It isn’t know whether Penn is intending to enter next year’s NFL draft or if he’s simply trying to send a message to his UFC 101 opponent, Kenny Florian. Penn has worked tirelessly to squash his reputation around the MMA community as a “lazy” fighter.

The Hawaiian has recently prided himself on his new-and-improved work ethic and training regimen and is hoping to unleash that on Florian inside the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 9th.

From the looks of this clip, which has generated more than 2.7 million views, BJ looks to be in fine physical shape.

Here is Jarron Gilbert’s original YouTube pool jump video that started this madness:
