The UFC has just announced that former WEC light heavyweight champions Brian Stann and Steve Cantwell will be meeting for a third time at “UFC Fight Night 19” inside the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The duo first met at WEC 26, where it took Stann all of 41 seconds to overwhelm Cantwell with punches. Stann went on to capture the light heavyweight championship at WEC 33, however lost in his fist-ever title defense to Cantwell in the 2ndRound of their rematch at WEC 35.
Since that scrap, the WEC opted to eliminate their 205-pound division and both fighters have since migrated to the UFC.
Cantwell recently dropped a unanimous decision to Luiz Cane at UFC 97, however was impressive in his Octagon debut against Razak Al-Hussan at UFC “Fight for the Troops” last December where he dislocated Al-Hussan ‘s elbow with a wicked 1stRound armbar.
Stann was steamrolled in his UFC debut by “The Ultimate Fighter 8” contestant Krzysztof Soszynski, getting caught in a kimura in the 1stRound.
Here is the lineup for the September 16th Spike TV broadcast:
