As expected, heavyweight king Brock Lesnar’s next title defense will get the red carpet treatment. It was announced today that he and challenger Cain Velasquez will be featured in Spike TV’s next installment of “UFC Primetime: Lesnar vs. Velasquez” starting on October 6th.
The superstars will battle for the 265-pound crown in the Octagon’s long awaited return to Southern California at UFC 121 inside Anaheim’s Honda Center.
Velasquez earned a crack at the belt with his impressive stoppage over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 110 in Australia this past February.
The former WWE employee overcame the most adversity he had faced since joining the UFC when his title reign was put in serious jeopardy at UFC 116. Lesnar surprisingly withstood a barrage of bombs from one of the sport’s hardest hitters and eventually submitted an exhausted Shane Carwin in the 2ndRound of their meeting.
On top of the three week UFC Primetime special, the network will also air some of Lesnar’s past fights to help hype his bout with the Mexican-American, which is set to go down October 23rd.
And to think we were foolish enough to believe Oktoberfest was the best thing about October…
Here’s the official Spike TV schedule for “Brocktober”:
