The “EA Sports MMA” demo is currently available for download on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. The gaming giant released the sampler Tuesday in hopes of boosting sales for their debut in the mixed martial arts market.

Button mashers are afforded the option of choosing between reigning Strikeforce champion Alistair Overeem or Bobby Lashley in the heavyweight division, or play with “Strikeforce: Nashville” brawlers Jake Shields and Jason “Mayhem” Miller in the 185-pound weight class.

Matches in the demo are officiated by “Big” John McCarthy, with fighter introductions courtesy of Jimmy Lennon Jr.

The “Fight Now” experience allows fanatics to step into the Strikeforce cage inside the HP Pavilion and test their mettle across four different skill levels. Gamers can also learn the ropes via the “MMA 101″ interactive tutorial that pits rivals Shields and Miller in a ring at the Horizon Center of Japan.

EA Sports MMA is the only video game that allows you to travel the globe to experience different fighting environments, rule changes and training facilities.

Furthermore, by sharing the demo with your buddies, you’ll be able to unlock “Classic” Randy Couture as a playable character in the full version of the game.

EA Sports MMA hits stores October 19th in North America and October 22nd everywhere else.
