WEC Bantamweight Champ Jose Aldo

The official weigh-ins for “WEC 51: Aldo vs. Gamburyan” take place today inside the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colorado. Stream Wednesday’s weight contest live right here on 5thRound.com starting at 7PM ET/4PM PT.

Thursday’s event features a featherweight title scrap between champion Jose Aldo and Manny Gamburyan. Aldo owns a dominant 17-1 professional record and is on the cusp of building an Anderson Silva-like aura of invincibility. In MMA’s current state, there are only a few fighters with a brighter upside than the blazing Brazilian.

Gamburyan is perfect through his first three WEC contests and will look to ride that momentum into the most important bout of his career. He holds a respectable 11-4 record and has quickly made a name for himself since dropping to the 145-pound division.

In addition to the featherweight title fight, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone will also meet former lightweight champ Jamie Varner in a long-awaited grudge rematch.
