Although the Octagon’s graphics department haven’t released a new event poster for UFC 122, it hasn’t stopped the world’s premier mixed martial arts promotion from finalizing its roster. The UFC’s return to German features a middleweight top contender bout between Nate Marquardt and Yushin Okami.
The König-Pilsener-Arena in Oberhausen will host the 11-bout fight card. Spike TV will treat North Americans with a freebie same-day tape-delay broadcast of the card’s main bouts.
Marquardt bounced back from a disappointing showing against Chael Sonnen at UFC 109 in February by quickly disposing of Rousimar Palhares last week at “UFC Fight Night 22.”
Okami, on the other hand, is fresh off a split decision win over Mark Munoz at “UFC on Versus 2.” The talented Japanese star has won five of his last six scraps. His only loss during the stretch came to the aforementioned Sonnen.
Vitor Belfort was slated to stand opposite Okami, but was presented with an unexpected opportunity courtesy of Sonnen’s failed UFC 117 drug test. The alleged PED abuser was awarded an immediate rematch with champion Anderson Silva, however an impending suspension and tainted performance quickly put that chatter to bed.
Belfort will now challenge the planet’s baddest 185-pounder for his title early next year, likely during Super Bowl weekend in February.
Here are the fighters that will be participating in the extravaganza:
Seth Petruzelli vs. Karlos Vemola
Rob Kimmons vs. Kyle Noke

Jason Brilz vs. Vladimir Matyushenko
