Strikeforce executive Mike Afromowitz has confirmed with multiple outlets that a middleweight tussle between former UFC veterans Robbie Lawler and Matt Lindland has been added to their December 4th fight card.
Lawler is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Renato “Babalu” Sobral in a 195-pound catchweight bout at “Strikeforce: Los Angeles.” Lawler owns a respectable 17-6 professional record, however has dropped two of his last three.
Lindland holds an impressive 22-7 mark, however has struggled landing fights over the years. The Oregonian has only competed four times since 2007, but is hoping his newly inked Strikeforce contract will quickly correct that problem.
MMA icon Dan Henderson will headline the Showtime broadcast against the aforementioned “Babalu.” Also, controversial slugger Paul Daley will make his debut for the organization when he faces Scott Smith in a welterweight scrap.
The event takes place inside the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
