According to the trusty grapevine, a welterweight battle between former “The Ultimate Fighter 5” winner Nate Diaz and undefeated Dong Hyun Kim has been added to the ever-expanding UFC 125 roster.
The New Year’s Day bout was first reported by the Korean website MFight.com, however has since been confirmed by multiple outlets stateside.
Kim stakes claim to a complicated 13-0-1 (1 NC) MMA record. The Judo black belt was last seen taking a unanimous decision over Amir Sadollah at UFC 114 this past May.
Diaz captured the TUF 5 lightweight crown back in June 2007, but moved up to the more suitable welterweight division two fights ago. He has posted a pair of impressive finishes since making the change, proving the 155-pound weight cut was far too draining on his lanky frame.
Although the UFC has yet to officially announced the star-studded event, the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Nevada is expected to host the extravaganza.
Here are the fighters rumored/expected to participate in the pay-per-view broadcast:
Antonio McKee vs. Jacob Volkmann
Jason MacDonald and Rafael Natal
Nate Diaz vs. Dong Hyun Kim
Chris Leben vs. Brian Stann
Brandon Vera vs. Thiago Silva
Shane Carwin vs. Roy “Big Country” Nelson
Gray Maynard vs. Frankie Edgar (UFC Lightweight Champion)
