Another medical setback is awaiting Mirko Cro Cop after his upcoming bout with Tatsuya Mizuno on March 15th for the newly formed DREAM division of K-1. Cro Cop also had nasal surgery to help with his breathing after his last fight with Cheick Kongo and according to his MMA-ID blog, he suffered an elbow injury during a sparring session.

Mirko went on to say that the blow he took on his elbow, “caused a tiny hematoma inside” and that, “I’ll restart my training a couple of days after surgery”.

Cro Cop is looking to get his career back on track after a lackluster 1-2 record inside the UFC’s Octagon. Cro Cop was coming off of  arguably one of the best years in MMA history as he won the Pride Open Weight Grand Prix with victories over Wanderlei Silva and Josh Barnett on the same night.

He then followed that up with a victory over Eddie Sanchez in his UFC debut. It was all downhill from there as Cro Cop suffered a devastating knockout that many would argue that he still hasn’t recovered from, as well as an embarrassing loss to Cheick Kongo.
