Steve Cantwell Can’t Go, Pulled From “UFC 120: Bisping vs. Akiyama”

And then there were 10. As in only ten bouts remaining on Saturday’s “UFC 120: Bisping vs. Akiyama” fight card after the injury bug bit Steve Cantwell once again.

After an unknown medical issue forced Cantwell out of a proposed scrap in January, Fighters Only reported early Friday morning the former WEC light heavyweight champ suffered a late knee injury that will force him out of his non-televised contest against UFC rookie Stanislav Nedkov.

Neither fighter appeared at today’s weigh-ins and no official announcement was made by the organization during today’s festivities.

According to the trusty rumor mill, the light heavyweight bout will be pushed back to UFC 124 on December 11th in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Cantwell’s health permitting, of course.

UFC 120 airs tomorrow on Spike TV and will be made available via same-day tape-delay starting at 8PM ET/PT.

Here is the revised roster for Saturday’s show:

Preliminary Bouts:

Fabio Maldonado vs. James McSweeney
Spencer Fisher vs. Kurt Warburton
Mark Holst vs. Paul Sass
Rob Broughton vs. Vinicius Kappke de Quieroz
Cyrille Diabate vs. Alexander Gustafsson

Main Bouts:

Claude Patrick vs. James Wilks
Cheick Kongo vs. Travis Browne
John Hathaway vs. Mike Pyle
Dan Hardy vs. Carlos Condit
Michael Bisping vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama
