After attracting more than 55,000 screaming fanatics to the Rogers Centre en route to collecting his ninth consecutive victory, welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre immediately left the arena following UFC 129 to have his eye examined. Although GSP claims his vision is still quite a bit blurry, the planet’s baddest 170-pounder isn’t too concerned after visiting a specialist.
“Hey everybody, leaving the hospital soon, just finished all my eye tests, I still don’t see anything from my left eye but I’ll be [fine],” St-Pierre tweeted early Sunday morning.
“Thanks for your support!!”
Despite the hoards of media waiting anxiously in the conference room, and the millions of fans across the globe sitting in front of their computer monitors waiting for the man of the hour to make his post-fight press conference cameo, it was a no-brainer to send him to the doctor’s office instead.
St-Pierre said during his in-Octagon interview that he injured his eye in the early stages of his 25-minute battle with Jake Shields.
“I think in the 2ndRound … I got scratched inside,” St-Pierre shared. “I need to go to [the] hospital. I can’t see with my left eye right now. I just see a blur.”
GSP posted a (50-45, 48-47, 48-47) unanimous decision victory over the former Strikeforce middleweight champion on Saturday night in Toronto, Canada.

St-Pierre just issued the following tweet:
“Hey guys just want to say that I am ok. I’ll need to see a doctor in the next days! Yesterday I was told it was not a retina problem. I am so lucky my BJJ instructor Bruno Fernandes is an ophtamologist!!! I’ll be in good hands!!!”
