Don Frye pulls out of YAMMA Pit Fighting

As was reported on Sherdog, MMA pioneer Don Frye has pulled out of his April 11th fight with Oleg Taktarov. Frye has subsequently been replaced by Pat Smith, but there has yet to be a clear explanation of why Frye pulled out.

There’s a rumor flying around the Internet that Frye could be Kimbo Slice’s next opponent for EliteXC’s debut on CBS for May 31st. The timeframe makes sense for the rumor, but again nothing has been confirmed at the moment.

It does seem odd though that according to Sherdog’s report, there is no reason behind Frye not facing Taktarov. There was no mentioning of an injury or a contract dispute.

YAMMA’s card was in the eyes of many considered paper-thin to begin with and with a guy like Frye pulling out it only hurts YAMMA, but we’ll have to wait and see if Frye has eyes for Kimbo Slice.
